Behavioral health is defined as the connection between behaviors and the health and well-being of the body, mind and spirit. Many children, youth, and adults benefit from behavioral health support that, in turn, provides a foundation for success in learning environments.

The following service providers (listed in alphabetical order) are available to provide support for children, youth, and families in Spartanburg County and are working directly with our Child, Youth, and Family initiatives:

Services/summary: EMERGE Family Therapy Center and Teaching Clinic provides quality and affordable behavioral health services while training graduate-level student therapists under the supervision of licensed professionals. The clinic offers a range of services, including play therapy, group therapy, and relationship (i.e. couples or families) counseling. Based on family size and income, EMERGE operates on a sliding-scale payment system. EMERGE Family Therapy Center & Teaching Clinic, alongside its community partners, is committed to increasing the access to affordable and quality therapy. The Forrester Center provides Substance Use Disorder treatment, Non-Substance Behavioral Health therapy, and Prevention and Education services. The Center is nationally credentialed through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and the SC Department of Health and strives to provide evidence-based therapy that reflects the most cutting-edge research. Center clinicians are certified through the SC Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, SC Association of Prevention Professionals and Advocates, and many hold advanced licensure or national certifications.

Middle Tyger Community Center (MTCC) Counseling Department

Services: MTCC provides counseling to all ages from children to seniors for a variety of needs. We accept some private insurance but also offer services on a sliding scale. Appointments are available on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 - 7:00 and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 - 4:00. ReGenesis Health Care offers culturally competent, quality patient-centered health care that is affordable and accessible in Spartanburg, Union and Cherokee Counties. Specific behavioral health services include support and treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and families who want to improve their mental health or manage substance use. ReGenesis Primary Care Providers and Licensed Clinicians work together to provide Integrated Care: comprehensive care in an outpatient healthcare setting. Sharpen Family | United Way of the Piedmont

Sharpen Family is an online mental health and wellness platform that contains a library of over 400 educational modules on mental health topics to support families. Using an evidence-based approach, Sharpen Family helps families cope with stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Created in collaboration with the United Way of the Piedmont and more than 15 agencies specializing in child advocacy and childhood development. Sharpen Family is a helpful resource for families and individuals.

The Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center gives priority to adults, children, and their families affected by serious mental illnesses and significant emotional disorders.
